The Swim’n'Gym program aims to foster a positive experience between Cape Breton University Student Volunteers and children with special needs, through an interactive recreational program that develops and further enhances leadership and social skills. The eligible ages for this program are ages 5-16 years old. The program is held at the Coast Guard College each Saturday for 2 hours, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. It begins on October 3rd and is free of charge.
The first hour then takes place in the pool. Parents are
encouraged to join in on the fun in the gym and pool, but it is not necessary. The
second hour takes place in the gym where the kids can play with which ever
equipment they choose.
Any cancellations of this program, due to weather, will be posted on this page and the facebook page Cape Breton University Student's Union Swim 'N' Gym Program as soon as possible. If you would like any more information about the Swim’n'Gym program or would like to speak with to someone about volunteering or signing up your child, please contact Kristen MacNeil, the Students’ Union Goodwill & Disabilities Coordinator at
